Wilma Ruth Roberts, age 86 of Cleveland, TN, passed away at a family home on Sunday, February 18, 2024. She was born in Chattanooga on June 11, 1937, the daughter of the late Arthur and Ruby (Swanner) Simmons. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Simmons and Wilburn Simmons.
Wilma lived in the Brayton community on Graysville Mountain in Bledsoe County for many years. She was the owner and operator of The Uniform Shoppe in Chattanooga that sold medical scrubs and police and fire fighter uniforms. She was an excellent seamstress and was a clogger and western square dancer in her earlier years.
Wilma is survived by her two sons, Ricky (Brenda) Linebarger of Ten Mile and Phillip (Kathy) Linebarger of Augusta, Georgia; her sister, Debra (Jimmie) Doughten of Cleveland; her six grandchildren, Heather (Joe) Flanders, Aaron Linebarger, and Ashley (Dustin) Driggers, all of Augusta, GA, and Jonathan Linebarger, Jonathan Pilkey, and Andrew (Robin) Pilkey, all of Ten Mile. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren; a special niece and nephew, Christy Sullivan and Jimmy (Lacey) Blankenship; and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Wilma will be in the funeral home chapel on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 12:00 noon with Rev. Steve James officiating. She will be laid to rest at Brayton Cemetery on Graysville Mountain.
