Willie Rebecca Swallows, age 99 of Sale Creek died at her home Sunday, May 31, 2009. She was born in Putnam County, TN on October 12, 1909 the daughter of the late Johnson and Emma (Perry) Hyder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Lee Swallows and her daughter, June Beene.
Willie lived most of her life in Sale Creek where she was a homemaker and a member of the Sale Creek First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Johnny Swallows of Sale Creek and Jeff Swallows of Ringgold, GA, three daughters, Betty Thomas and Joyce Cunningham both of Sale Creek and Jessie Brown of Conyers, GA, her brother, Howard Hyder and her sister, Cleo Pendergrass, both of Sale Creek, thirteen grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Willie will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00am at the church with Rev. David Cunningham and Rev. Emory Layne officiating. She will be laid to rest next husband in the Welch-Rogers Cemetery in Sale Creek.
Willie’s family will receive friends Tuesday from 12 noon until 9:00pm at her church, the Sale Creek First Baptist Church and also before her funeral service Wednesday morning.
