Obituary

On the morning of Friday, October 2, 2026, William Dennis Everett went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born and raised in Dayton where he grew up loving the outdoors, hunting, swimming, water skiing, snow skiing, biking, golfing, and riding motorcycles. He also loved to read and study history as well as playing several musical instruments. After finishing high school, he joined the United States Army where he served in Germany. He then went on to work with TVA.

During his time with TVA he acquired his bachelor’s degree in education from MTSU. After retiring from TVA he went on to work with UTC. While working at UTC he obtained his master’s degree in education as well as his contractor’s license, electrical license and a realtor’s license.

Dennis retired from UTC and the workforce in February of 2024 and was home enjoying his time with his wife and cats until the time of his passing.

He is survived by his wife Sherry Lynn (Harris) Everett, and his two brothers, Ray Everett and Donnie (Karen) Everett all of Dayton. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nora (Bowles) Everett and two infant sisters, Wilma and Carla Everett.

Graveside funeral services with Military Honors will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. in the afternoon at Rigsby Cemetery on Dayton Mountain with Pastor Stanley Faulkner officiating.

Please share your memories and photos of Dennis on his online guest register at www.vanderwallfh.com.
