Wendell Borne

Wendell Borne, age 80, of Dayton, died Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. A lifelong resident of Rhea County, he was born July 15, 1932 to the late James and Lottie (Ball) Borne. He was also preceded in death by his first wife June (Cheeks) Borne, brothers Oscar, Arthur, Gene, Robert, Bill and Monroe and sister Geraldine Foote.
Wendell worked as a textile dyer for the Southern Silk Mill in Spring City and was employed by the Rhea County Sheriff’s Department. He enjoyed playing rook, fishing and hunting and was an avid Tennessee Vol fan. He was a member of Morgantown Baptist Church and attended Grace Bible Church.
He is survived by his wife Joyce (Godsey) Borne, sons Rodney (Sandy) Borne of El Dorado, KS, Jim (Linda) Borne of Dallas, GA and David Borne of Dayton, daughter Donna Gail (Tommy) Ford of Clarksville, AR, step-children Jimmy Wayne (Paula) Reed and Johnny Reed, both of Evensville, Diane (Keven) Brown and Tim Reed, both of Spring City, twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Wendell will be held Wednesday at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Doug Russell and Rev. David Hobbs officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens.
