Wanda Joy Dawson

Wanda “Joy” Dawson, age 82 of Dayton, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Life Care of Rhea County. She was born in Dayton on July 25, 1941, the daughter of the late Perry Bishop and Grace (Purser) Bishop.

Joy lived in Dayton most of her life. She was employed in the meat department of Shop Rite for many years. She was a member of New Bethel United Methodist Church, where she played the piano.

She is survived by her three grandchildren, Bailey (Kristen) Hufstetler of Dayton, Bradley Hufstetler of Spring City, and Joshua Dawson of Clearwater, FL; her three great-grandchildren, Dawson Hufstetler of Spring City, Emma Jo Hufstetler and Amelia Hufstetler, both of Dayton; her sister, Peggy (Mack) McClain of Dayton; and her niece Madi McClain.

Funeral services for Joy will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bob Schafer officiating. She will be laid to rest in Buttram Cemetery.
