Walter Ronald VanDusen, age 81, went home to be with Jesus on August 21, 2025. Walter was born in Corning, NY, and graduated from Practical Bible Training School (now Davis College) in 1967.
He was surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Mary (Ross), and his four children, Peter (Kimberly) VanDusen, Joshua (April) VanDusen, Samuel (Amanda) VanDusen, and Hannah (David) Wooden. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren Nicole and Christian VanDusen, Sullivan and Vincent VanDusen, Tyler Parker, and Ellie and Easton Lanford. He also leaves his brothers David, Charles, LaVern, Leland, and Leslie, and sisters, Donna, Vanda, and Patty. He is preceded in death by his brothers Robert and Daniel, and his sister Shirley.
Walter lived his life serving his Lord and Savior. He was a pastor for his younger years, but a witness for Christ for his whole life. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Walter also spent over 40 years on volunteer fire departments and rescue squads. If you met him, you were instantly his friend. He loved to talk and tell stories. Walter went out of his way to make everyone around him laugh and smile. To know him was to love him.
Visitation will be at Vanderwall Funeral Home on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Funeral to follow directly after. Graveside service will be for family only.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, the family asks that you make a donation in Walter’s name to either your local volunteer fire department or the Alzheimer’s Association.
