Virgie Lee Bishop age 89 of Dayton died Monday July 2, 2007 at Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga. Virgie Lee was born in Dunlap on August 13, 1917 the daughter of the late James and Martha (Burwick) Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband Luke Bishop, her infant son, Terry Alfred Bishop, sister, Ella Mae Davis and her four brothers, W.E., Henry Ford, Ueal and Ancil Williams.
Virgie Lee lived all of her life in Dayton except for the past 3 years where she was a resident of the Spring City Care and Rehab Center. Virgie Lee was a member of the South Dayton Church of God.
She is survived by her son Rev. Rick (Delores) Bishop, her daughter, Sandra Rogers, both of Dayton. Also surviving her are her five sisters, Ethel Brumley, Evelyn Eakins, Lorena Stewart and Betty Williams all of Dayton, Altheia Green of Cleveland. two granddaughters, Wendy (Clyde) Thurman of Spring City and Leslie (Kent) McWherter of Dayton and her five great-grandchildren, Alexa Thurman, Lee Thurman, Taylor Thurman, Nicholas McWherter and Mallory McWherter.
Funeral services for Virgie Lee will be held Thursday at 3pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Smith and Rev. Milton Knox officiating. Burial will be in Rhea Memory Gardens followed by a white dove release.
The family is being served by Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Thursday after 11am
