Tommie Edward Phillips, age 87, of Dayton, passed away Tuesday morning, October 8, 2019 at his home in Dayton. He was born May 5, 1932 in Dayton, the son of the late Andy and Mattie (Leffew) Phillips. Tommie was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Marie (Brown) Phillips, his son, David Phillips, his two brothers, Richard Phillips, Sr. and Johnny Phillips, and three sisters, Florence Cheeks, Margaret Phillips and Bessie Mae Phillips.
Tommie lived in Dayton all of his life. He served his country with the US Army. Tommie worked with Suburban Manufacturers for 45 1/2 years, he loved fishing and attended Graysville Church of God.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Dale (Terri) Phillips of Dayton; his three daughters, Sherry (late Ricky) Presley of Hixson, Brenda Gale Cronan of Dayton and Amie Redden of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Tommie will be held Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jimmy Talley and Rev. Jim Mulkey officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Mary in Rhea Memory Gardens with military honors.
