Thomas “Bootsy” Lowell Oliver, age 78 of Sale Creek died Saturday, December 12, 2009 at his home while surrounded by his family. He was born October 12, 1932 in Fayette County, TN to the late Lowell and Frankie (Fowler) Oliver.
He lived in Sale Creek since 2001, having moved there from Bethel Springs, TN. He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War receiving the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Virginia Oliver, sons Thomas Oliver of Bethel Springs, TN, Johnny Oliver of Dayton, TN, Mark Oliver of Selmer, TN and Paul Oliver of Sale Creek Mountain, daughter Lili Mardis of Dayton, brother Ray Oliver of Dallas, TX, sister Lucy Cook of Missouri, eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Thomas will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial with military honors will be in the Standifer Community Cemetery on Sale Creek Mountain.
The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Monday after 6:00 pm.
