Thomas “Tommy” Greer Messimer age 61 passed away Monday evening February 29, 2016 at his home. He was born in Chattanooga June 27, 1954 to the late James Rawls and Mary Ella (Cripps) Messimer. He is also preceded in death by his sister Connie Sue Messimer, brothers James Messimer and Kenneth Messimer.
Tommy worked as a mechanic for the Rhea County Highway Department. He enjoyed building and racing race cars. He also loved Nascar and Dale Earnhardt.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Maynor) Messimer of Graysville, three sons; T.J. Messimer of Cookeville, Jeremy Davis of Graysville,Malcom Davis of Six Mile, South Carolina, one daughter Holly Lively of Chattanooga , five grandchildren, three brothers; Jimmy (Jeanne) Messimer of Jonesboro,GA , Donald Messimer of Graysville , Jessie (Marla) Messimer of Dayton , six sisters; Jimmie Ruth (B.J.) Vinson of Augusta,GA , Wanda (Earl) Rodgers of Dayton, Gail (Buddy) Clingan of Dayton, Peggie (Ed) Hall of Dayton, Beverly Almoina of Jonesboro,GA and Charlene (Terry) Rose of Dayton.
Funeral services for Tommy will be held Wednesday afternoon at 5:00p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tim Smith officiating.
