Sylvia Ann Wingate

Sylvia Ann (Alexander) Wingate, age 84 of Sale Creek, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Memorial North Park Hospital in Hixson. She was born in Soddy, Tennessee, on June 9, 1939, the daughter of the late Dailey and Rachel (Neal) Alexander. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Wingate, and her two sisters, Wilda Nappier and Peggy Alexander.

Sylvia lived in Sale Creek since 2017, previously living in Davie, FL from 1957 until 2001, when she moved to Woodbine, GA. She had been an IT technician at a manufacturing plant in Georgia. She loved her dogs, playing computer games, gardening, and yard work. She attended Union Fork Baptist Church in Soddy-Daisy.

Sylvia is survived by her four brothers, Melvin Alexander of Battle Creek, WA; Don (Betty Lou) Alexander of Soddy-Daisy; Glenn Alexander of Huntington Beach, CA; and Neal (Rhona) Alexander of Soddy-Daisy. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Sylvia will be on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with her nephew, Dr. Ben Taylor officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her sister in Neal Cemetery in Soddy-Daisy after the service.

The family is being cared for by Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, TN, where they will receive friends on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.
