Sue Kinney

October 14, 1950 — August 4, 2020

Susan Marie Tyner Kinney, age 69 of Dayton, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 4, 2020 at her son’s home in Jonesboro, GA. She was born on October 14, 1950 in Endicott, NY, the daughter of the late Thomas Oakley and Elga Monnington Tyner. Sue was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Kinney, Jr.

Sue went to State University of Morrisville, NY. She lived in Dayton since 1986. Sue was an administrative assistant for more than 34 years at the Rhea County Veterans Affairs Office in Dayton. She dedicated her life to taking care of the veterans. Sue loved hummingbirds, enjoyed fishing, gospel music and was passionate about taking care of others. She was a member of the Corvin Road Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Charles T. “Charlie” Kinney III of Jonesboro, GA; her brothers and sisters in law, Mike (Patricia) Kinney of Spring City, TN, Robert (Bonnie) Card of Milton, FL, George (Becky) Basos of Owego, NY, Jim (Kathy) Hamlin of Owego, NY and Mike (Shawn) Bostwick of Nichols, NY; numerous nieces and nephews; and multiple family members.

Funeral services for Sue will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with her pastor Rev. Steve James officiating. She will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens next to her husband Chuck.

The family is being cared for by the Vanderwall Funeral Home where they will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
