Sidney Dennis Rothwell, age 81 of Hixson passed away at his home Tuesday December 30, 2014. He was born on October 31, 1933 in Bledsoe County to the late Sidney and Alice (Dunn) Rothwell. He is also preceded in death by sons, Terry Rothwell, Greg Rothwell, and Jimmy Reel, brother Thomas Rothwell, and sisters, Irene Owens, Ellen Johnson, Aline Hatfield, Sue Webb and Barbara Mays.
Sidney was a resident of the Hixson community for over thirty years and previously lived in Dayton. He was retired from Dixie Yarns where he was a supervisor for more than 40 years. He was an avid football fan and was of the Baptist faith.
Sidney is survived by his wife Ethyle (Layne) Rothwell, sons Larry Rothwell of Dayton, Randy Rothwell of Dayton, Mark (Jessica)Parker of Hixson, two daughters Judy (J.B.) McMillon of Dayton, Lisa Parker of Hixson, three sisters Thelma Schlicher of Murfreesboro, Joyce Miller of Hixson ,Ruby Rice of Hixson and several grandchildren, great- grandchildren , nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Sidney will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jimmy Jewell officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his father in Summer City Cemetery on Dayton Mountain.
