Shirley Houston

Shirley Sue Houston, age 73, of Dayton, went to be with her Lord Thursday, November 6, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Knoxville. Shirley was born in Dayton on November 2, 1935, the daughter of the late Rev. John Thomas Neal and Cora (Collins) Neal. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Houston and her brother Billy J. Neal.

Shirley was a resident of Dayton until moving to Knoxville in 2004. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter Melissa “Missy” Henderson and son Billy Houston, both of Knoxville, and son Mark Houston of Dallas, TX, her sister Joyce Nunley of Dunlap and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services for Shirley will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Shirley will be laid to rest next to her husband in Rhea Memory Gardens followed with a white balloon release.

The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
