Sherman Vance Sharp, Sr., age 68 of Dayton Mountain died Sunday morning at the UT Medical Center in Knoxville. Vance was born in Cheyenne, WY on October 15, 1944 the son of the late Dallas and Dorothy (Johnston) Sharp.
Vance was a graduate of University of Georgia and had served his country with the US Marine Corps. He had been employed as a middle manager with William Carter Company and retired after 25 years. After his retirement Vance enjoyed working as a car salesman at several local dealerships in Dayton. He was currently president of ABC Mountain View Estates and was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton.
He is survived by his two sons, Vance Sharp, Jr. of Nashville and Josh Sharp of Marcola, OR, his granddaughter Ashley Sharp of Bradford, TN and his brother, Kenneth Sharp of Augusta, GA.
Funeral services for Vance will be held Wednesday at 12 noon at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton with his pastor, Rev. Carter Johnson officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Westminster Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
