Shannon Elayne (Reynolds) Smith age 29 went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday morning October 23, 2011 while holding her husband’s hand at their home. Shannon was born in Athens on December 6, 1981 the daughter of Don and Patricia (Mills) Reynolds. Her mother preceded her in death earlier this year.Shannon was raised in Athens where she was a member of Woodward Avenue Church of God. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Bryan College and her Master’s degree in urban education at UTC. She was a first grade teacher at Hillcrest Elementary and then lead first grade teacher at Birchwood Elementary School.She lived in Birchwood since 2008 where she was a member of Birchwood Baptist Church. Shannon enjoyed cake decorating, crafts, cooking, scrapbooking, photography, card making and above all her family.Shannon is survived by her husband Justin Paul Smith of Birchwood, her son, Will Smith at home, her dad, Don Reynolds of Athens and her sister Ashley (Justin) Taylor of Cleveland along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.Shannon’s family will receive friends Tuesday after 3:00pm in Rudd Chapel at Bryan College in Dayton where funeral services for her will be held Tuesday evening at 6:30pm with Rev. Dave Delmotte and Rev. Wayne Fritts officiating. She will be laid to rest Wednesday at 12 noon in the Birchwood Baptist Church Cemetery.
