Sabra Smith

Sabra Anne Smith, (widow of Hubert Smith, Jr.) age 77 of Birchwood died Saturday afternoon, May 2, 2009 in a Chattanooga hospital. Sabra was born in Tatnall County, GA on July 26, 1931 the daughter of the late Foy Monroe Tootle and Leila (Purvis) Tootle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Smith, Jr.

Sabra was a graduate of Glennville High School and the Athens Business College. For 25 years she was the food service manager for the Ford Motor Company plant Atlanta. She was a member of the Oconee Street United Methodist Church in Athens, GA. Sabra lived in Athens, GA until moving to Birchwood, TN in 1984.

She is survived by her three children, David (Ellie) Smith of Oakland, TN, Jody (Jenne) Smith of Green Cove Springs, FL and Marie Anne (Bruce) Holcomb of Riverdale, GA, two brothers, Jan (Gloria) Tootle and Sam (Rose) Tootle both of Savannah, GA, her sister, Virginia Smith of Glennville, GA, six grandchildren, Gina, Nicklas, Shaun, Shelby, B.J., and Melissa, two great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Joey.

Funeral services for Sabra will be held Monday evening at 7:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Glenn Smith officiating. Graveside services and burial will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00pm at the Winterville Cemetery in Winterville, GA.

The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, TN where they will receive friends Monday after 4:00pm.
