Ruth Underwood

Ruth Pearl Underwood, age 79 of Harrison, formerly of Spring City, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at her home. Ruth was born in Sevier County on May 12, 1927 the daughter of the late Robert J. and Rebecca (England) Perryman. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde, Buford, John and Carroll Perryman and her sisters, Lillie Starkey, Ruby Cline and Myrtle Bryant.

Ruth was a long time resident of Knoxville and lived in Spring City from 1986 until 2004 when she moved to Harrison. Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church in Spring City and its Dorcas Sunday school class. She loved to garden, quilt, bake, fish and loved her church.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 60 years, John C. Underwood, son, Steve (Susan) Underwood of Chattanooga, daughter, Delores (Dave) Simpson of Odenville, AL, grandson, John A. Underwood, brothers, Jack Perryman and Richard Perryman all of Knoxville and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Ruth will be held Thursday at 1:00pm at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville.

The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, TN where they will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
