Roscoe Smith

Rev. Roscoe Francis Smith, Sr. age 99 of Dayton went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ Saturday morning February 15, 2014 at home. He was born in Morehouse, MO on November 16, 1914 the son of the late Jasper and Margarete (Caldwell) Smith and was also preceded in death by his wife Abbie Ruth (Stevenson) Smith and his fourteen brothers and sisters.
Rev. Smith was a graduate of the Baptist Bible Seminary in Clark Summit, PA and had been a resident of Dayton since 1979. He had served as pastor in churches located in New York, Indiana and Alaska.
He is survived by his three sons, Roscoe (Rose) Smith, Jr., of Vestal, NY, David (Cindy) Smith of Rochester, NY and Mark (Nancy) Smith of Bloomington, IL; three daughters, Frances (Bob) Wiggins of Waco, TX, Virginia Miller of Dayton and Kristina Smith of Austell, GA; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Rev. Smith will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mark Smith and Rev. Curtis Sayre officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Rhea Memory Gardens.
