Robert “Earl” Walcott, Sr., age 81, of Dayton died Tuesday night, February 18, 2014 in Dayton. He was born May 11, 1932 in Patriot, IN to the late Carl and Mabel (Shannon) Walcott. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Alice (King) Walcott.
A resident of Dayton most of his life, Earl was an auto mechanic. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart. He was of the Baptist faith.
Earl is survived by his son, Bobby Walcott, Jr.; his daughters, Ann Riley, Alice (Raymond) Walker, Sandra Armstrong, all of Dayton, and Bethany Routh of Dillsboro, IN; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Raymond Walcott of Patriot, IN and Leonard Walcott of California.
Funeral services for Earl will be Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bob Bunch officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Smyrna Cemetery with military honors.
