Robert Loggines Steel, age 75 of Dayton, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at his daughter’s home in Dayton. He was born in Tennessee on October 14, 1947, the son of the late Lem Loggines Steel and Ruth Ellen (Lowery) Steel. He was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Jerry Lee Steel, Paul Edward Steel, and J.T. Steel and his sister,
Dora May Douglas.
Robert lived in Rhea County for most of his life. He was a tree climber and retired after 40 years as a supervisor for Asplundh Tree Service. He enjoyed yard work, was an avid wrestling fan, and enjoyed walking, singing, and going to church. He attended White Oak Baptist Church.
Robert is survived by his two daughters, Nancy (Jeffrey) Beskin of Dayton and Dorothy (Jeremy) Williams of Pulaski, Virginia; his son, Robert “Randy” (Vickie) Steel of Kalamazoo, Michigan; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Andrew Steel of Kingston; his five sisters, Elizabeth “Nicky” Edmonds, Norma Jean Crowe, and Glenda Sue Coleman, all of Dayton, and Macillo (Gene) Christian and Rachel Denson, both of Graysville.
Funeral services for Robert will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens with Rev. Carl Hunsucker officiating.
