Robert Ellison Hathaway, age 80 of Dayton, TN died at his home Sunday morning May 27, 2007. Bob was born in Stockton, NJ on August 7, 1926 the son of the late Rev. F.O. and Lenora (Kennedy) Hathaway.
Bob lived in Stockton, NJ until 1952 when he moved to Asheville, NC. In 1988 he moved to Columbia, SC until 1996 when he moved to Dayton, TN.
He earned his B.S. degree at Bob Jones University and did graduate work at University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
Bob served his country with the US Navy during WWII in the South Pacific and spent his career as a teacher and soccer coach. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bonnie (Crowe) Hathaway of Dayton, his son Mike (Kathy) Hathaway of Dayton, daughter, Sharon ( Bob) Gant of Colorado Springs, CO, brother, Edgar Hathaway of Hubert, NC, two sisters, Judith Hudspeth of Sparks, NV and Theodora Cole of Goldendale, WA. Bob is also survived by his three grandchildren, Luke Hathaway, Rachel Hathaway and Lenora Gant.
Funeral services for Mr. Hathaway will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00am with his pastor, Rev. Carter Johnson officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Rhea Memory Gardens followed by a white dove release.
The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, TN where they will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
