Robert “Kenneth” Harris, age 94 of Dayton, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 12, 2021. He was born in Dayton on August 4, 1927, the son of the late John A. and Hattie (Byerly) Harris. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Mary “Imogene” (Cranfill) Harris; his son, Kenneth Harris; his sisters, Wilma Colbaugh and Francis Harris; and his brother, Charlie Harris.
Kenneth was raised in Dayton and was a graduate of Rhea Central High School class of 1946. He served in the United States Army and was part of the occupation forces of Japan. He lived for many years in Charlotte, MI, and retired from General Motors after 32 years. He then returned to Dayton in 1998 and attended Community Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, Douglas Harris, and his grandson, Brandon Harris, both of Kalamazoo, MI.
Funeral services for Kenneth will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jimmy Jewell officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Rhea Memory Gardens.
