Robert Joseph Blaylock age 82 of Dayton passed away at his home early Friday morning, May 1, 2020. He was born on July 29, 1937 in Dayton, the son of the late Fred Joseph Blaylock and Annie Melissa (Montgomery) Blaylock. He was also preceded in death by his son James Robert Blaylock, two grandchildren Heath Edward Blaylock and Caitlyn Julianna Blaylock, four brothers, Clarence Blaylock, Ralph Blaylock, Johnny Blaylock and Jack Blaylock; six sisters, Ova Cook, Edna May Bryant, Frieda Bryant, Louise Blaylock, Hazel Ferguson and Effie Porter.

Robert lived most of his life in Dayton where he enjoying building things in his workshop and going to yard sales with his wife and was also an accomplished cook. He served his country with the US Army and was employed as a welder with US Pipe, Suburban Manufacturing and then retired from Siskin Steel. He was a member of the Cranmore Cove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara “Sue” (Coulter) Blaylock, three sons, Don (Tammy) Blaylock, Dennis (Karen) Blaylock and Larry (Charlotte) Blaylock all of Dayton, his daughter, Amy (Scott) Finlayson of Ider, Alabama and his brother Harold Blaylock of Lakesite. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Justin) Killingsworth, Travis Blaylock, Jacinta (Waylon) Kimsey, Alex (Josh Revis) Blaylock, Brooklyn (AJ) Moore, Ella (Levi) Ogle and Garron Finlayson along with ten great-grandchildren, Maverik Fugate, Ealyn Riggs, Quinn Blaylock, Monroe Kimsey, Ava Moore, Sawyer Moore, Finley Moore, Harrison Ogle, Emerson Killingsworth and Kinsley Killingsworth.

Family Funeral Services for Robert will be held Sunday afternoon, May 3, 2020 with Rev. Bob Schafer and Rev. Steve Reed officiating.
