Richard Paul Tallent, Sr., age 77 of Daisy and formerly of Graysville died early Saturday morning May 1, 2010 at Hospice of Chattanooga. Paul was born in Dayton on November 27, 1932 the son of the late Gaines and Betty (Holland) Tallent. He was also preceded in death by his son, Chris Tallent and two brothers, Thomas Tallent and James Pierce.
Paul served his country with the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was employed as a truck driver and traffic supervisor with the BASF Corp and was a member of the Dayton Masonic Lodge 512 F & AM. He was also a long time member of the Graysville United Methodist Church. Paul also served his community as a former Graysville City Commissioner and as a Rhea County Commissioner.
Paul is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbie (Cuzzort) Tallent of Daisy, his son, Rick (Rhonda) Tallent of Soddy-Daisy, two daughters, Betty (Ken) Mobley of Chattanooga and Phyllis (Mark) Roberts of Falling Water, his brother, Wallace Tallent of Lansing, MI, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Paul will be held Monday morning at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Andy Miles officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Rhea Memory Gardens.
