Richard Kimsey

April 17, 1941 — October 13, 2023

Richard Kimsey, age 82 of Rockwood, passed away Friday, October 13, 2023, at his home. He was born in Rhea County on April 17, 1941, the son of the late George and Vesta (Henson) Kimsey. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Tom Kimsey, and his two sisters, Cora Lee Kimsey and Bonnie Legrande.

Richard lived in Spring City until 1985 when he moved to Rockwood. He was a graduate of Spring City High School, Class of 1958, and he attended Tennessee Wesleyan University for two years. He served his country for four years in the US Air Force in the Panama Canal. He was employed by TVA in Spring City and then in Kingston and retired from TVA as an assistant shift engineer. He was an avid hunter and car enthusiast.

Richard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ellen (Rice) Kimsey of Rockwood; his son, R. Scott (Judith) Kimsey of Knoxville; his daughter, Michelle (Gerald) Eldridge of Asheville, North Carolina; and his four grandchildren, Anna Kimsey, Jonah Kimsey, Reagan Eldridge, and Ian Eldridge.

A graveside funeral service with military honors for Richard will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Rhea Memory Gardens in Dayton, TN, with his son Scott Kimsey officiating.
