Pastor Kenneth R. Goins, age 65 of Decatur received his ultimate healing and went on to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at his home. Pastor Goins was born November 17, 1942 in Grandview, TN the son of the late Bass and Louise (Patton) Goins. He was also preceded in death by his brother John Goins and grandson Gunnar Goins.
Pastor Goins and his wife Connie pioneered and pastored the Watts Bar Church of God for more than 25 years. He was also in the U.S. Army.
Pastor Goins is survived by his wife of forty-four years Connie (Fuller) Goins, sons Pastor Kenneth “Chris” (Janet) Goins of Birmingham, AL, Kelly (Denise) Goins of Atlanta, GA, Stephen (Angela) Goins of Ten Mile and Kasey Goins of Decatur. Also surviving are his brothers Bud (Nancy) Goins of Sale Creek, Ted ( Linda) Goins of Rossville, Malcolm (Linda) Goins and Jay (Brenda) Goins of Dayton and Dwayne (Alice) Goins of Bakewell, sisters Christine (Vinson) Chestnut and Connie (Richard) Day of Dayton, Shirley (Kenneth) Jewell of Spring City, Barbara Sullivan and Brenda (Chester) Smith of Graysville, sister-in-law Shirley Goins of Dayton and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Pastor Ken’s homecoming will be held Friday at 7:00 pm in his church. An identical celebration will also be held Saturday at 1:00 pm for those who were unable to attend the Friday evening service. Burial with military honors will be Saturday at the church followed by a white dove release.
Visitation for Pastor Goins will be Friday at the Watts Bar Church of God from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and Saturday from 11:00 to 1:00 pm.
