Garry Hardin

Rev. Gary Joe Hardin, age 68 of Dayton, TN went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Tuesday morning July 14, 2009 at his home. Rev. Hardin was born in Elizabethton, TN on October 14, 1940 the son of the late Ott Hardin and Hildred (Clemmons) Hardin.

He was a graduate of Bethel College in McKenzie, TN and served as a pastor of the gospel. He was a former resident of Elizabethton and has lived in Dayton since 1999 where he was a member of First Baptist Church.

Rev. Hardin is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janet “Kathy” (Price) Hardin of Dayton, two sons, Joe (Paige) Hardin, II of Mansfield, TX and Jonathan Hardin of Nashville, his daughter, Elizabeth (Jim) Parks of Arlington, TX, six grandchildren, three brothers, Larry Hardin of Johnson City, TN, Lynn Hardin of Elizabethton, TN, and Eddie Hardin of Greenwood, SC.

Funeral services for Rev. Hardin will be held Thursday evening at 7:00pm at First Baptist Church in Dayton with Rev. Milton Knox officiating. Graveside services and burial will be Friday afternoon at 2:00pm in the Nave Family Cemetery in Elizabethton, TN. The processional to the gravesite will meet at 1:30 pm at the Siam Baptist Church parking lot at 2414 Siam Rd., Elizabethton, TN.

The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.

Memorial contributions may be made the First Baptist Church benevolence fund or to the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Ft. Worth, TX) chapel fund.
