Rev. Ethel Ruth Brumley age 96 of Dayton Mountain, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday, November 19, 2007 in a Rhea County nursing home. Ethel was born in Dayton on May 25, 1911 the daughter of the late James and Martha (Burwick) Williams. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Heber Brumley.
Ethel lived most of her life in Dayton and was a Church of God minister for many, many years. She had been a member of the Dayton Church of God since 1920.
Ethel is survived by her two sons, Phillip Brumley of Whitwell and Malcolm (Mack) Brumley of Soddy-Daisy, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her four sisters, Lorena Stewart of Dayton, Betty Williams of Graysville, Althiea Green of Cleveland and Evelyn “Toni” Eakins of Dayton.
Funeral services for Rev. Brumley will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00pm at the Dayton Church of God with Rev. Jewell Travis, Bishop Kenneth Bolton and rev. Mike Justice officiating. Rev. Brumley will lie in state at the church where her family will receive friends Tuesday after 4:00pm.
Graveside services with a white dove release will be Wednesday morning at 11:00am at Buttram Cemetery in Dayton where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
