Ray Cox

Ray Reginald Cox, age 73 of Pikeville and formerly of Dayton, TN died Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. Ray was born November 11, 1934 in Dayton, the son of the late James and Pearl (Elder) Cox. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Ann Cox and grandson William Ray Cox.


Ray was a former manager of the Red Food Store and was of the Church of God faith.

Ray is survived by his wife of 54 years, Emma Earleen (Sneed) Cox, two sons, Jimmy Lee Cox of Pikeville and Jackie Ray Cox of Cleveland, TN, brother Oliver Cox of Roddy community, sister Martha Joyce Rose of Dayton, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ray will be held Saturday, February 23 at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with the Reverends Claude Pendergrass and Carroll Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery.

The family is being served by Vanderwall Funeral Home where they will receive friends Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 pm and all day Friday until 8:00 pm.
