Ralph Claude Hixson, age 79 of Sale Creek, died Saturday August 9, 2014 at his home. He was born August 17, 1934 in Bledsoe County to the late James Purser Hixson and Allie Viola (Hixson) Hixson. He was also preceded in death by two brothers Jasper Hixson and Jack Hixson and two sisters Virginia Heard and Jenell Hixson.
Ralph retired from Dixie Yarns in 1996. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed farming, traveling, hunting and his bird dogs. He was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Sale Creek.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Lovella (Elsea) Hixson of Sale Creek, his daughter Claudia Ann Dalton of Lupton City, brother E.G. (Jean) Hixson of Kentucky, two sisters Ruby Hixson of Chattanooga and Naomi Bowman of Dayton, and three grandsons Martin Winters of Red Bank, Matthew Dalton of Lupton City and Marcus Dalton of Hixson.
Funeral services for Ralph will be held Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Emory Layne, Rev. David Cunningham and Rev. Gladen Coe officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Mount Vernon Cemetery. Please share your memories of Ralph on his on-line guest register at
