Otis Wendell McKinney, age 77, of Evensville died Tuesday morning, August 12, 2014 in Dayton. He was born December 27, 1936 in Sale Creek to the late James Arlen and Elizabeth Jane (Aslinger) McKinney. He was also preceded in death by his son, James Wendell McKinney, brothers, Armon McKinney and Eldon McKinney and sisters, Larve Howard, Katherine Hardy and Wilma Woodall.
A resident of Rhea County for the past 35 years and previously of Sale Creek, Otis worked as a residential carpenter. He was a member of the Dayton Lions Club and was an avid fisherman. Otis served our country in the US Navy during the Korean War.
Otis is survived by his three sons, Doug (Tonja) McKinney of Dayton, Michael McKinney and Donald McKinney, both of Tunnel Hill, GA; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Owen (Doris) McKinney of Jackson, Kenneth (Janie) McKinney of Soddy Daisy and Creed (Nadine) McKinney of Richmond, VA and his two sisters, Betty (Eddie) Chester of Dayton and Nora (Duke) King of Sale Creek and his caregivers, Nancy and Dean Edmonds of Evensville.
Funeral services for Otis with military honors will be held Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Carl Hunsucker officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens on Friday at 11:00 a.m. followed by a white dove release.
