Rev. Orville Houston Thomas, age 80 of Tiptonville, and formerly of Northern Hamilton County, died Friday morning, September 5, 2014 in Monteagle. He was born June 3, 1934 in Mayking, KY to the late Arthur and Lona (Craft) Thomas of Sale Creek. He was also preceded in death by his sister Brenda Poe.
Rev. Thomas served his country in the United State Marine Corp during the Korean War. He was an auto body repair instructor at Sequoyah Technical High School and former Chaplain of the Soddy Daisy American Legion. He was an Evangelist and Pastor from 1959 to 1984.
He is survived by his wife Sudie Nell (Coulter) Thomas of Graysville, his two daughters Cleveah Sue Thomas and Delcia Dianne Thomas, both of Soddy Daisy, three brothers, Troy Thomas and Don Thomas, both of Sale Creek and Glen Thomas of South Pittsburg, two sisters Wilma Faye Gregory and Nyoka Yearwood, both of Sale Creek four grandchildren, John Orville McAllister of Soddy Daisy, Christina Renee Utt of Hixson, Paul Daniel Copeland of Evensville, Ashley Michelle Copeland of Soddy Daisy and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held Monday morning at 11:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
