Rev. O. L. Hart, age 94 of Belvidere, TN, and formerly of Sale Creek, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at Franklin Manor in Winchester, TN. He was born in Miston, TN, on September 12, 1928, the son of the late James and Zelthia (Hart) Hart. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Scott) Hart, in 2000; his three brothers, Howell Hart, Norris Hart, and James Hart, Jr.; and his infant sister, Juanita Hart.
O. L. served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After attending seminary in Michigan, he became a Church of God pastor and traveling evangelist. He pastored churches in Graysville, Sale Creek, Belvidere, Ripley, Dyersburg, Humboldt, McMinnville, Oak Ridge, and Waynesboro, all in Tennessee, and Orangeburg, SC. He also served on many Church of God committees through his ministry years.
O. L. is survived by his son, Gregory (Penny) Hart of Sale Creek; his two daughters, Angela (Gerald) Leigh of Mayfield, KY, and Susan (Tim) Reed of Sebring, FL; his four granddaughters, Stephanie (Kevin) Couch of Sebring, FL, Natalie (Eric) Taylor of Mayfield, KY, Ashley Craig of Chattanooga, and Alicia (Michael) Whitman of Louisville, KY; his grandson, Garrett Hart of Sale Creek; his six great-grandchildren; his brother, Joe Hart of Louisville, KY, and his two sisters, Jean Alexander of Paris, TN, and Sue Ramey of Dyersburg, TN.
Funeral services with military honors for O. L. will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Enochs and Rev. Terry Bolton officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens.
