Nellie Sedman Abel, age 86 of Dayton, died Monday afternoon, October 28, 2013 at her home. She was born March 6, 1927 in Rhea Springs to the late George and Elizabeth (McNutt) Sedman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lesley Abel.
A resident of Dayton all of her life, Nellie was a homemaker and an artist, with many hobbies such as sewing, crocheting, quilting, knitting, canning and making pies. Nellie was a member of the Dayton First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years
Nellie is survived by her two sons, Robert Daniel (Vera) Abel and George Douglas Abel; her daughter, Janice (David) McMichael, all of Dayton; her grandchildren, Aaron Bradley (Becca) Abel of Nashville, Adam McMichael and Dana McMichael, both of Dayton; great-granddaughter, Hanna Grace Abel of Nashville; one brother, Tim (Nina) Sedman of Dallas, TX, and one sister, Mary Coxey of Murfreesboro.
Funeral services for Nellie will be held Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with her pastor, Rev. Ken Pierce, officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Rhea Memory Gardens in Dayton.
