Naomi Elizabeth Bowman, age 94, of Dayton, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 14, 2019 at her home in Dayton. She was born on January 30, 1925 in Dunlap, the daughter of the late James Purser Hixson and Allie (Hixson) Hixson. Naomi was also preceded in death by her husband, Roger O. Bowman, Sr.; her sons, John Hethcoat and Dale Hethcoat; her daughter, Alice Gibson; her sisters, Virginia Heard, Janelle Hixson; and her brothers, Jasper E.G. Hixson and Ralph Claude Hixson.
Naomi lived in Dayton since 2004 and previously lived in Dunlap, Pikeville, Hixson, Rossville, GA and Ringgold, GA. She was a Dunlap High School graduate, Class of 1943. Naomi retired in 1990 as an EMT with Hutcheson Medical Center. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, church missions and she was a member of the Old Washington Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Roy) Hanks of Dayton; her sister, Ruby Roy of Chattanooga; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Naomi will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Rusty Revis officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Roger, Monday at 12:00 noon in Lakewood Memory Gardens South.
