Mildred "Midge" Russell

Mildred “Midge” Russell age 83 of Dayton died Monday April 10, 2006 at Deer Ridge Apts. in Dayton. She was born in Mt. Vernon, IN. October 22, 1922 the daughter of the late George and Nellie (Gibson) King. She was also preceded in death by her husband Charles B. Russell, her infant brother, Peter King and brothers, Charlie King, William King, Raymond King, Floyd King, Lloyd King, sisters, Elizabeth Webb, Mandy Claybrooks, Juanita Bartley, Cora Flack and Nell Mann.

Midge was raised in Mt. Vernon, IN where she was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and then attended Moody Bible Institute evening classes which included voice lessons. Midge was a long time resident of St. Louis, MO and moved to Dayton, TN in 2000. She attended Grace Bible Church in Dayton where her son is the senior pastor and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Mt Vernon, IN.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Doug (Kathy) Russell of Dayton, granddaughters, Amy (Joel) Karum of Siloam Spring, AR. and Abigail (Dr. Suhas) Chelian of Culver City, CA., three great-grandchildren, and her sister, Dorothy Kester of Stanford, KY.

Funeral services for Midge will be held Tuesday at 7pm in the Vanderwall Funeral Home chapel with Rev. John Fields officiating. Funeral services will also be held Friday at 10am in the Schneider Funeral Home chapel in Mt. Vernon, IN. with her son Dr. Doug Russell and Rev. Dennis King officiating. Burial will be next to her husband in Belle Fontaine Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, IN.

The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, TN where they will receive friends Tuesday 4-7pm. Visitation for Midge will also be held Thursday 6-9pm at the Schneider Funeral Home in Mt Vernon, IN.

Midge’s family requests memorial contributions be made to the Musical Theatre Department at Bryan College, PO Box 7000, Dayton, TN 37321.
