Mildred Betty Louise Leffew, age 87 of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Spring City Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Chattanooga on April 28, 1935, the daughter of the late Homer and Edith (Swanson) Pyburn. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Rev. Carlos Leffew; her son, Ricky Leffew; and her three sisters, Dorothy Sims, Christine Potts, and Cathy Foss.
Mildred lived in Dayton for many years and was a homemaker and pastor’s wife. She loved gardening and working with flowers. She was very involved with the Church of God.
Mildred is survived by her four sons, Randy (Melanie) Leffew of Dayton, Gary (Anita) Leffew of Ooltewah, Eddie Ray (Anna) Leffew of Chattanooga, and Stanley (Jessica) Leffew of Houston, TX; her two daughters, Delores Heald of Raleigh, NC, and Sheila (Eddie) Hicks of Chattanooga; her two brothers, Charles Pyburn and Junior (Mary Ann) Pyburn, both of Chattanooga; her four sisters, Irene Walker, Carrie Lou Harvey, and Imogene Neely, all of Chattanooga, and Louise (Donnie) Sutton of Decatur. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mildred will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Freddie Marler officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Rev. Carlos Leffew, in Rhea Memory Gardens.
