Michael Anthony Nordyke age 26 of Dayton died Friday, February 29, 2018 in Bledsoe County due to injuries he suffered in a motorcycle accident. Michael was born in Weatherford, TX on November 29, 1991 and moved to Dayton when he was six months old. He was a graduate of Rhea County High School, Class of 2011 and was employed with La-Z-Boy in the sofa plant.
Michael enjoyed motorcycles, four-wheeling, rock climbing, swimming, gar spearing, frog gigging, playing pool, grilling out with family and friends, wrestling with his brother and nephews and was the current “Corn Hole Champion”. Michael was raised in Grace Bible Church.
He is survived by his Dad and Mom, Bob and Lorrie Nordyke, sisters, Heidi (Michael) Bishop and Kaitlyn (Kyle) Becker all of Dayton, SGT Rochelle (SSG Jeffrey) Smith, US Army of Augusta, GA, brothers, Austin Nordyke of Dayton and Josh Nordyke-Jessica Porter of Eureka Springs, AR, his maternal grandparents, Robert and Judy Engstrom of Prior Lake, MN, maternal great-grandmother, Willa Belle Nelson of Rochester, MN and his nephews and nieces, Kyler, Alvin, Seth, Adalyn and Kassalynn. Michael was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ralph Nordyke and Shirley Smith.
Funeral services for Michael will be held Monday evening at 7:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Breedin officiating. He will be laid to rest Tuesday at 12 noon in Rhea Memory Gardens followed by a white dove release with Rev. David Snyder officiating.
