Mary Elizabeth Koontz, age 85 of Dayton passed away Friday morning, October 3, 2008 in Chattanooga. Mary was born in Coalfield, TN on August 22, 1923 the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Robinson) Crenshaw. She was also preceded in death by her husband William Koontz.
Mary was a long time resident of Clinton until moving to Dayton in 1982. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Dr. Stuart) Bacon of Dayton, her three granddaughters, Erica Bacon of Nashville, Jill (Lewis) Whitfield of Franklin and Kelly Bacon of Knoxville. Also surviving are her special friends Anthony and Lou Ware of Dayton.
Graveside services for Mary will be held Monday morning at 10:00am at the Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton, TN.
The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Sunday from 2:00pm until 5:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga.
