Mary Imogene Harris, age 87, of Dayton, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 13, 2019 at her home in Dayton. She was born on November 28, 1931 in Scottsboro, AL, the daughter of the late Bruce L. and Margaret (Stevenson) Cranfill. Imogene was also preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Harris, her brothers, Alvin “Buddy” Cranfill, Wayne Cranfill and her sister, Jeanette Weller.
Imogene was raised in Dayton. She was a graduate of Rhea Central High School, class of 1950. She married Robert Kenneth Harris in 1950, lived in Charlotte, MI and returned to Dayton in 1998. Imogene was a homemaker, a beautician and was a member of the Community Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Robert Kenneth Harris of Dayton; son, Douglas Harris of Kalamazoo, MI; grandson, Brandon Harris of Jackson, MI; brother, Jerry Cranfill of Dayton Mountain; and sister, Joyce Rothwell of Dayton.
Funeral services for Imogene will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jimmy Jewell officiating. She will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens.
