Mary Cordelia Cunningham, age 83, of Dayton, passed away Tuesday evening March 12, 2019 at her home in Dayton. She was born on March 8, 1936 in Savannah, GA, the daughter of the late Cecil and Adelle (Norton) Coots. Mary was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Cunningham, her siblings, Jerry Coots, William Coots and Louise Cope, and grandson Bobby Cunningham.
Mary moved regularly, her husband Robert was career military and served in the US Air Force. Since retiring, they moved to Spring City in 2000 and lived in Dayton since 2010. She was a Chattanooga High School graduate, a Chattanooga State Community College graduate and attended Erlanger School of Nursing. Mary was a Bookkeeper at Superior Building Maintenance, owned by her husband and her, and were also the owners of Special Occasions Flowers Shop in Harrison. While living in Spring City she was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and a member of the New Union Baptist Church after moving to Dayton.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary “Gail” Basler of Dayton, Debra (Mark) Crubaugh of Spring City, Cheri (Mike) Zani of Rockwood; her son, Donald R. (Connie Norman) Cunningham of Spring City; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and brother Larry (Donna) Coots of Foley, AL.
Funeral services for Mary will be held Saturday at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. William Beasley officiating. She will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens next to her husband Robert.
