Mary Rose Alvey Borne, age 73 of Dayton, died Wednesday morning August 22, 2007 in the Rhea County Nursing Home. Mary was born in McNamara, GA on October 2, 1933 the daughter of the late Samuel and Callie (Bush) Cranfill. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Alvey, Sr. and Eugene Borne.
Mary lived most of her life in Rhea County where she was a graduate of Rhea Central High School and briefly attended Bryan College. She had been employed at Kayser-Roth and Oster Corporation and was an avid reader and enjoyed flower gardening.
She is survived by her four sons, Robert “Bob” Alvey of Evensville, Randy Alvey, Edward Alvey and Glenn Alvey all of Dayton, three sisters, Jo McKinney of FL, Florence Loggins of NC, Shirley Sturgills of IN, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mary will be held Thursday evening at 7:30pm in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Doug Russell officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday morning at 10:00am in Buttram Cemetery.
The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home where they will receive friends Thursday after 4:00pm.
