Martha Ruth Hawkins

Martha Ruth Hawkins, age 79 of Dayton Mountain died Saturday morning, August 1, 2015 in Chattanooga. She was born in Pikeville on August 20, 1935 the daughter of the late Luther and Bertha (Morgan) Riggs. She was also preceded in death by her husband Maynard Hawkins and her grandson Bradley Blackburn.
Martha lived all of her life on Dayton Mountain and had been employed at Kayser Roth and then retired from Robinson Mfg. She was a member of the Community Freewill Baptist Church.
Martha is survived by her two sons, Harry (Vera) Hawkins of Dayton Mountain and Philip (Crystal) Hawkins of Dayton, three brothers, Tommy (Judy) Riggs and Jerry (Leona) Riggs both of Pikeville and Roger (Jennie) Riggs of Dayton, four sisters, Jean King and Linda (Olin) Kerley both of Pikeville, Betty Rohrscheib of Soddy and Barbara (John) Long of Harrison, her five grandchildren, Amy (Ronnie) Masterson of Dayton, Brandon Blackburn of Soddy, Philip Hawkins, II of Dayton, Chris Hawkins of NV and Amanda Homer of MO, several great-grandchildren and her special friend and sister-in-law, Shirley Riggs of Dayton, Mountain.
Funeral services for Martha will be held Monday at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel with her pastor, Rev. Jimmy Jewell officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Rhea Memory Gardens followed by a white dove release.
