Martha Jo "Jody" Cameron

Martha Jo “Jody” Cameron, age 82 of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at her home. She was born in Rhea County on March 22, 1941, the daughter of the late Caleb and Cannie Mae (Byrd) Smith. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Glen Smith and Chester Smith; her two sisters, Velma Brown and Dorlene Lovelady; and her granddaughter, Megan Levengood.

Jody lived in Dayton most of her life, graduated from Rhea Central High School in 1960, and was a supervisor at La-Z-Boy for many years. She was an avid sports fan, played softball and basketball, and enjoyed watching her grandchildren. She was a member of Dayton First Baptist Church.

Jody is survived by her husband, Jimmy Ray Cameron of Dayton; her three daughters, Karen Levengood and Stacy (Matt) Hampton, both of Dayton,
and Jan Cameron of Kingston; her two sons, Walt Cameron and Tracy (April) Cameron, both of Dayton; her nine grandchildren, Stephanie Gibson, Natalie Bright, Ashton Cameron, Madison Bailey, Mallory Hampton, Sydney Hampton, Haley Cameron, McKenna Cameron, and Kaleb Cameron; her great-grandson, Luke Bright; her brother, Jimmy Ted Smith; and her special cousin, Carolyn Tallent.

Graveside funeral services for Jody will be on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 12:00 noon at Add Smith Cemetery in Spring City with Rev. Bobby Schafer officiating.
