Marie Bailey, age 89 of Dayton and formerly of Oak Ridge died Saturday morning, June 4, 2011 at her home. Marie was born in Dayton on July 1, 1921 the daughter of the late Gerald LeRoy Shofner and Maude (Foust) Shofner. She was also preceded in death by her husband Myles William Bailey. She was a graduate of Rhea Central High School and Abel Business School. Marie lived most of her life in Oak Ridge where she had been employed as the office manager for Sterchi Bro. Furniture Store. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, past president of the Oak Ridge Chapter of the Pilot Club, a member of the Business & Professional Women’s Club and had volunteered at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Mylen (Tom) Blair of Oak Ridge, grandson, Justin Blair of Oak Ridge, her brother, Jerry (Nadine) Shofner of Hixson and two sisters, Geraldine Langley of Dayton and Glena Esty (Jim) Sikes of Hohenwald, TN.
Graveside services for Marie will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00am at Oak Ridge Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
