Margaret Ann Travis, age 80, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday evening, May 17, 2011, while home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 31, 1930 in Wartburg, TN to the late Charles “Chip” and Mazie (Norris) Deford. She was also preceded in death by a son Charles Franklin Travis, sisters Ruby (Archie) Gentry and Edith Wright and brother-in-law Roy Best.
Margaret lived in Dayton most of her life. She was a member of the South Dayton Church of God where she served as pianist and organist for many years and also played for the Travis Quartet. She was an outstanding seamstress and enjoyed traveling. She loved to fish and work in her garden. She was retired from the Bi-Lo grocery store in Dayton.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years Harold Travis, sons Donald (Mary) Travis, Jerry (Melissa Killen) Travis and Hal (Lona) Travis, all of Dayton, daughter Cheryl (Barry) Woody of Cleveland, brother Charles (Vera) Deford of Florida, sister Helen Best of Kingston, brother-in-law Bill Wright of Hixson, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Margaret will be held Thursday at 7:00 pm at the South Dayton Church of God with Rev. Darryl Smith, Rev. Mike Justice, Rev. Jewel Travis and Rev. Larry Eastman officiating.
Graveside service followed by a white dove release will be Friday at 11:00 am at Rhea Memory Gardens.

The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home, where they will receive friends Thursday at the church from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
