Margaret Raper, age 85 of Dayton died Sunday, December 13, 2009 at the Rhea Medical Center while surrounded by her family. A lifelong resident of Dayton, she was born May 28, 1924 to the late James Wendell and Viola (Holland) Holden. She was also preceded in death by her husband James J. Raper, daughter Donna Diane Raper, brothers J.W., Bennie, Billy and Howard Edward Holden and sister Louise Thompson.
She retired from Kayser-Roth Manufacturing after 49 years and was active with the Rhea Richland Senior Neighbors. She was member of the First Baptist Church of Graysville.
Margaret is survived by her son Ronnie (Phyllis) Raper, daughters Marilyn (Raymond) Monday and Nancy (Tobet) Poole Thompson all of Dayton, brothers Carl Holden of Laurel, MD and Jessie Holden of Evensville, TN, sister Elizabeth Layne of Dayton, grandchildren Leigh Ann Shadden, Todd Aikman, Kristi Monday, Casey Poole, Stormie and Emily Monday, five great-grandchildren, several special nieces and nephews and special friends Molly, Diane and Amy.
Funeral services for Margaret will be Tuesday at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be in the Rhea Memory Gardens followed by a white dove release.
The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Monday after 5:00 pm.
