Margaret Louise Fugate, age 82, of Spring City died Wednesday morning December 11, 2013 at her home. She was born May 3, 1931 in Rhea Springs to the late Jason and Pauline (Barger) Porter. She was also preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and beloved husband of 63 years, William “Earl” Fugate, and her two sons, Zane Fugate and Maurice Fugate.
A resident of Spring City most of her life, Margaret was employed by Ooltewah High School and later with Rhea County. Margaret’s favorite activity was studying the Bible and sharing the “Good News” with others. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Donna (Teddy) Norton of Ten Mile; her sisters, Helen Mitchell of Winston Salem, NC and Leona Rose of Benton; her four grandchildren, Maria “Slick”, Devra, Stephen, and Tammy; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Elsie Fugate of McMinnville, and cherished childhood friend Lois Porter of Wolf Creek; a brother-in-law, Ray Fugate of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews.
The family is being served by Vanderwall Funeral Home where they will receive friends Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Funeral services for Margaret will be held Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Hensley officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Spring City Memorial Gardens Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m.
