Loyd Edward Brooks, age 80, of Dayton, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday night, November 20, 2019 at his home in Dayton after a long struggle with cancer. He was born on March 5, 1939 in Dayton, TN, the son of the late Ulyss and Hanna (Hill) Brooks. Loyd was also preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine (Miller) Brooks, brothers, Junior Brooks and Billy Brooks, and his sisters, Betty Walker, Rosie Richardson, Cecil Elsea and Elouise Thurman.
Loyd lived in Dayton all of his life. He retired with TVA, Labors Union. Loyd loved crappie fishing, hunting, sharing God’s love with strangers and spending time with his family. He had a dynamic sense of humor and he never met a stranger. Loyd was of the Church of God of Prophecy faith and attended the Community Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Katheryn (Anderson) Brooks of Dayton; his children, Alan (DeAnna) Brooks of Dayton, Kimble (MaxAnn) Brooks of Dayton and Tammy (Jeff) Link of Claremont, NC; grandchildren, Kaleb (Caitlin) Brooks, Nicolas Brooks, Lane Brooks, Camille Brooks all of Dayton, Tommy (Karina) Collins, Zac Link, and Natalie Link all of Claremont, NC; great-grandchildren, Clayton Collins and Aria Collins of Claremont, NC; and his brother, Johnny (Margaret) Brooks of Cincinnati, OH.
Funeral services for Loyd will be held Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Geraldine in Garrison Cemetery in Dayton followed by a white dove release.
